Accesory means something supplemental; something nonessential but useful; one who though absent assists or contributes to the commission of a crime. It would be a crime to omit mentioning the Accessories that come with Windows. Windows' Accessories can be found by clicking the Start button, choosing Programs and then Accessories.
Calculator
The Calculator accessory can be used in standard view to perform simple calculations, or in scientific view to perform advanced scientific and statistical calculations. If you need to convert decimal to hexadecimal or vice versa, you can do it in Calculator using the Scientific view.
Notepad
The Notepad accessory is a simple text editor that can be used to create or edit text files that do not require formatting and are smaller than 64K. Notepad opens and saves text in ASCII (text-only) format only. If you need to create or edit files that require formatting or are larger than 64K, use WordPad which is also a Windows Accessory. If you are interested in Web page design, Notepad is a good tool to use for your coding; as long as your page doesn't exceed 64k.
Paint
The Paint accessory is a graphics program which can be used to create, edit, and view pictures. A Paint picture can be pasted into another document you've created, or used as a desktop background. Paint can also be used to view and edit scanned photos.
Wordpad
The WordPad accessory is a text editor for short documents. You can format documents in WordPad with various font and paragraph styles. Documents can be saved in several formats including Word for Windows 6.0, Rich Text Format (RTF), Text Document, Text Document - MS DOS Format and Unicode Text Document.
For more information on Calculator, Notepad, Paint and Wordpad, click the Windows Start button and choose Help. Select the Index tab and type one of the above in as a keyword. It's that simple!
