Taking The Plunge!
June 8, 1996
OK.
We're taking the plunge again!
We had a house built in 1990.
Shari was 8 and 1/2 months pregnant with our first.
It was typical Bakersfield summer weather.
Hot!
We swore we would never do that again (Shari meant move, I meant the kid!).
We have a nice home.
It's just getting too small for our menagerie.
This has been the general consensus for several years since the arrival of our second bundle of joy.
There have been continual grumblings because of the location of our current home.
Too far east!
Too far from Mom's work!
Too far from the shopping of choice!
All the kids' activities are in the West!
We have tried to sell with no success on and off for the last three years.
Why buy old when you can buy new for the same amount or less?
So, once again, we take the plunge!
No pregnancies this time.
We just bought a house without unloading the first house.
My buttocks are puckering thinking of the possible outcome of this move.
This is not a rational move for a middle-aged man.
Course, this isn't a rational family.
What have we done?
We bought a fixer-upper located down the street from Grandma, close to Mom's work,
near all the kids' activities and close to all the Westside shopping.
There's an elementary school around the corner.
There's a park around the other corner.
We're within walking distance of a movie theater and an ice cream parlor.
Most importantly, the house has electricity and Dad can plug the computer in!
