Venice BeachingIt (Day Three)
February 5, 1994

Leisurely grab some vittles and head out for Venice Beach. Meander indirectly to avoid LAX traffic. Look at all these freeways and interchanges. LA built this thinking "we'll never need all these roads!" Yuk. Yuk. Just as we pull into the Beach area, a Santa Monica Fire Department engine and a Paramedic unit leave their position in a hurry. We notice helicopters circling Santa Monica and find out later there was a single-engine plane crash about a 1/2 mile away. Stroll around. Not too many people. Very disappointing. Expected a carnival "like TV". Had enough. Head home. Traffic not bad. We live!
