Chance Doesn't Make The Move
August 16, 1996

Chance the cat didn't make it to the new house! The cat was acting a little psychotic for several weeks previous to our move. He would stay for days in the garage without any desire to come in the house. If he did come in the house, he wouldn't let anyone get near him. We hadn't done any preparation for moving so I don't think he had an inkling of what was taking place. Two days before we actually moved, Chance had a complete personality change and started his normal cat rubbing and meowing on everyone. The first day of our move, Chance was in the garage again with the garage door open. When it came time to gather up the animals, Chance didn't want to come out from behind the freezer. I finally rousted him out, prodding with a broom handle and by then forgot the garage door was open. The last we heard of Chance was claws digging into wood as he hightailed it over the backyard fence. We left food and water at the old house and checked every other day for a week. The neighbors have been alerted, but, nobody has seen Chance.
